Hurling Update September (report by Jim Sheridan)

Senior Hurling

Our Senior Hurling team have qualified for the Senior Hurling Final for the second year in a row. They defeated last year’s Champions Celbridge by 5 points after a tough encounter in the county grounds on Sunday last.

The County final decider is down for Sunday 1st of October in Conleths Park. As of yet, we don't know the opposition, as last week’s other semi-final between Confey and Ardclough finished in a draw.

Replay is down for 3 pm in Clane this Saturday.

Naas started well against Celbridge and got some good early scores but lost their way a bit and went in at the break 4 points behind.

With Celbridge getting the first score after the break it seemed to drive the Naas lads into gear and with some changes made, Naas seemed the better throughout the third quarter.

Celbridge, with all the experience didn't panic and it was only in the last few minutes you felt Naas were over the line. So well done to all the players, management and committee to be back in another county final. Well done to all the supporters who attend the games week in and week out. It helps every time and we ask you all for one more big push Sunday fortnight.

Man of the Match: Gallagher, Gainey, Walsh, Sullivan & Nevin…too many to pick a winner this week.

Intermediate Hurling

Our Intermediate hurling team must be one of the most consistent teams in the club.  Having won the league already this year and now in the semi-final of the championship again for the 4th time in five years.

They had a comprehensive win over Moorefield in Donore a couple of weeks ago and now meet Maynooth in the semi-final having lost out to them in last years decider. Game, venue and time has not been decided yet but we will update all media as soon as it is confirmed.

Well done lads and best of luck in the Semi Final

Junior Hurling

Our Junior Hurling team didn't have as much luck. The most committed team in the club and hard working. They led against Ros Glas and looked like winners, when a suspect goal decision was the difference of winning and losing. Off to Kilcock and again playing well on the night, went down by four points. A walk-over from Clane and losing out to a strong Sarsfield’s team on the night wasn't enough to qualify.

So well done lads on all the hard work and enjoy the break, and back to the job again next season. Well done to all players and Management

Minor Hurling

Our Minor hurlers are still in competition in Kilkenny and our Minors in Kildare have a win under their belt against Killard. Will update as soon as I have all the info.
