Leinster Under 11 LGFA Blitz in aid of Barretstown

Naas Ladies’ Gaelic Football are busily organising an u11 Blitz on Sunday 2nd June commencing at 1pm and concluding at 6pm.The ethos of ‘ Kids helpimg Kids’ is a major focus of this initiative as all the proceeds accruing will be donated to Barretstown ; a very worthwhile charity and renowned for its tremendous work with children.

The organising committee has extended invitations to all the clubs in the county and further a field in Leinster. Naas Gaa grounds will be the ideal venue and will cater for thirty -two clubs in this endeavour to combine sport and fundraising for charity .The registration fee is €75 per team but it should be noted that all the proceeds go directly to Barretstown to enhance their facilities, and help to develop their amenities and expertise in the care of the children and their families. Each team will play and enjoy four competitive matches of twenty minutes duration, a generous Welcome Pack, a team photograph, a Goodie Bag for each player , a certificate for each player and an Invitation to Cheque Presentation ceremony. This is certainly a very appealing event with emphasis on the children’s enjoyment and participation in a ‘Fun Day of sport.

All the participating clubs will be invited to raise funds in addition to their entry fee. The clubs could invite suggestions from their young players thus involving them in the actual fundraising effort and enabling them to take some ownership of the ‘ Kids helping Kids ‘approach to the event. The charity events can vary from a Bake Sale , organised by the children and their parents to a more adult event such as a ‘ Table Quiz’. Every club will have a variety of ideas which will generate much needed funds for Barretstown, a very deserving charity . All fundraising materials will be supplied .There is an added incentive for all the clubs to organise their own fundraising event within their club as there is a prize for the three clubs who raise the most funds for Barretstown . This prize cannot be valued in monetary terms as the coveted prize will be a private two hour training session at your club with one of the following stars of Ladies’ Gaelic Football; Cora Staunton a legend in Mayo Briege Corkery or Bríd Stack both infamous in their home county of Cork. This will be a unique opportunity for all the young players to see some of the finest exponents of the game in action and listen to their words of advice .It will have a very positive influence as regards their attitude and approach to the sport as young players .

It is important to register now , to avoid disappointment, as the event is limited to thirty two teams. Come and enjoy a fun-filled day of sport where players will meet other players from other clubs and counties in Leinster, share ideas and most importantly know they are ‘ Kids helping other Kids’ .It promises to be a very enjoyable and memorable event .
